Pistachio Chocolate Snacking Cake
This is one of our favorite new cake recipes. It is moist, not-too-sweet, and the pistachio frosting puts it over the top. Recipe is courtesy of Food & Wine.

Pistachio Lemon Bars
We needed to bring something to a potluck on our street in Kirkland, WA, and the night before, I found this recipe on NYT Cooking and decided to try it. They turned out so well and were so popular at the potluck that I felt the need to share the recipe here.

Cherry Almond Cake
It is cherry season in Washington State, so when I saw this recipe pop up, I had to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Recipe courtesy of Katiebird Bakes.

Olive Oil Cake
This is quickly becoming the new favorite cake in our house, which is quite an accomplishment given the popularity of our Almond Cake. It's simple, flavorful, and not too sweet, with just a hint of lemon.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
In searching for the "best" chocolate chip cookie recipe ever, I ran into several candidates (e.g., Original Toll House Cookie), but the Jacques Torres recipe stood out for me due to the gourmet nature of the recipe and ingredients. When making these cookies, keep the following points in mind: Turn any chocolate discs that are poking up from the dough horizontally so that they melt evenly into the cookie. If you want your cookies to have a cake-like texture, replace one of the eggs with 2 egg yolks. Try different high-end brown sugar options to see which one matches your palate - e.g., turbinado, demerara, or muscovado. Get creative! Add your favorite nuts, raisins, or other sweet dried fruits for a personal flavor.
